2. Do you develop film? Yes, but with some qualifications.
I will not handle any tasteless subjects, pornography, or illegal matter period.
With the qualification that the film has been adequately exposed.
We develop sheet film of most sizes. We can pull or push most films.
On sheet films of unusual of ULF size I tray develop the film one sheet at a time.
This allows me a sample of the exposure and then I can correct the developement.
I use D76, Ilford developers, Rodinal, Rodinal Special, PMK pyro, and Clayton 76 plus depending on the film type and exposure.

3. Do you do custom printing?

  1. Minature and medium format films: Probably not cost wise for you. A local shop would be a better choice.
  2. Sheet film: We will process all formats. Exposure information is helpful. We tray develop our 11X14 and 12X20 negatives.
  3. 8X10, 5X7, and smaller we process in dip and dunk stainless tanks. We normally use Clayton 76 plus, PMK pyro or Rodinal on sheet film. Both soups produce lovely highlights, and fine shadow detail. We also stock D76 and HC110 developers. We can not promise results form other developers that we have have not calibrated
  4. We use Bergger, Ilford Galerie, and Kentmere bromide papers. Others will have to be custom ordered.
  5. We no longer do dye transfer, but we print Cibachrome.
  6. We have discontinued our E6 line for public use.

Fine art prints can be made almost any size you prefer.
We normally print either 16X20 or 20X24 inch prints.
The print is mounted archivally on acid free fiber board, computer matting is matched, and framing of your choice will be provided. The normal charge for framing is $ 50 for a 16X20. This price varies according to the frame selected.

5. How do you charge for travel?
Travel by vehicle is billed at 75 cents per mile for shoots over 25 miles. Lodging and fare can either be built in to the overall price or billed in itemized invoices.
We do not  accept air travel assignments. This is becaue of the irresponsibility of the airlines in handling equiptment and the damage the Home Land Un-Security animals do to film and cameras.

6. Are darkroom instructions for small groups offered?
We prefer small groups or even individual sessions. I charge 150.00 per person per day for one, two , or three.  I much prefer one or two attendees since they can have more personal attention.
We cover general darkroom introduction to advanced techniques.
Pre bleaching of negatives and contrast control are our specialty.
We use Ilford pan or EFKE ortho and pan sheet films. These are forgiving and silver rich films that will remind you of the grand prints from the old masters.

7. Do you buy and sell photographic items?
Occasionally we sell a piece that we do not expect to use.
We will list these on a dormant page when something comes up for sale.

We do cover bulding a large format system and planning a darkroom suited to your individual needs in our seminars.
We stress cost versus utility. We will help individuals in our classes with these choices. You might be pleasantly surprised at how little you haave to spend to assemble a good large format system.
